| Once again, we have some exciting news here at Dana Law Firm. We have recently hired attorney Scott Jensen to serve in our probate and trust administration department and to also assist in our estate litigation department. We are very excited to welcome Scott as our newest attorney and know that you will be very pleased with him if you have the opportunity to work with him. We have also made great strides with the expansion of our firm into California. We have already received many referrals from you, our existing clients, who have sent friends and family living in California our way- thank you! Matt Dana, senior attorney and managing partner, has also recently received official word from the state of Colorado notifying him that he is now licensed to practice in Colorful Colorado. Congratulations Graduates
In May, not one but two of our attorneys graduated from New York University’s LLM in Taxation Program. Attorneys Matt Dana and Trevor Whiting studied for several years to achieve their LLM, or Masters of Law Degree in Taxation. Congratulations Graduates!

Gun Trust / NFA Trust
I recently wrote this article about the hidden traps of holding title to NFA firearms in a revocable trust. This issue has been coming up more often lately when talking to clients because there is more awareness of the benefits of what is commonly referred to as a “NFA Trust.” As I mention in the article, there can be serious unintended consequences when transferring these weapons to a revocable trust.

Great Title, But can you protect it?
Many people believe that titles to publications or other works cannot be protected. This misconception stems from the fact that although copyright law protects the content of a particular publication, the Copyright Act provides that words, slogans and short phrases are not protectable under copyright law. Copyright Office regulations and numerous court decisions have determined that titles are equivalent to short phrases and, as such, are not protectable.
