Todd Smith, Attorney
M. Todd Smith, Esq.
Todd joined the Dana Law Firm in 2009 and focuses his practice on estate planning, probate and trust administration, and business organizations.
Bar Admissions: Todd was admitted to the State Bar of Arizona in 2006 and is licensed to practice before the Supreme Court of Arizona and the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona.
Education: In 2003, Todd graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy, magna cum laude, from the W.P. Carey School of Business at THE Arizona State University. While at ASU, Todd was involved with the Accounting Students Association and was a student member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). He subsequently earned his Juris Doctor from the William S. Boyd School of Law at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, in 2006, where he was a member of the J. Reuben Clark Law Society, the Federalist Society, and a student member of the American Bar Association.
Experience & Practice Areas: Todd plays a crucial role in the Dana Law Firm’s Advanced Estate Planning cases for high net worth clients, but he enjoys assisting individuals and families with estate planning needs, regardless of the size or complexity of the estate. He has also served as a valuable member of the firm’s Probate and Trust Administration team, assisting clients through the administrative burdens that complicate the already difficult time after the death of a loved one.
Todd has extensive experience with business organizations, including advising business owners and preparing buy-sell agreements for business succession planning, and advising clients with substantial wealth in forming business entities like Limited Liability Companies (LLC’s) and Family Limited Partnerships (FLP’s) for asset protection and estate planning purposes.
More recently, Todd has developed an interest in NFA Trusts, which are an estate planning vehicle for clients who own Title II, Class 3 weapons.
Foreign Language: Todd learned to speak Italian while living in Italy many years ago, but he admits that his Italian has gotten rusty over the years since his return.
Personal: Todd and his wife, Jennifer, have two children, Harrison and Alyssa. They are all avid ASU football fans. When Todd is not busy at work representing our clients, he is usually reading history books, playing his guitar, or listening to the Beatles. He also enjoys being involved in his community, where he serves on the Board of Directors and as Treasurer of his HOA.
